Jimmy O’Dowd
What is your role?
I am your ASB President!
What is one specific issue or goal you want to focus on within the ASB?
One specific issue I want to focus on at O’Dowd is bringing us all closer together, organizing more events and activities to bring out the amazing and deeply rooted culture that O’Dowd has. We don’t have a lot of opportunities to connect as a school outside of spirit week, the occasional rallies, and retreats. My goal is to create more places and times to do that!
What do you want the students of O’Dowd to know about you?
I want the students to be able to trust me, I will be there to pray for them, to be able to ask for changes and know I’ll do my best to make the changes they need.
How do you envision the ASB contributing to the overall school environment and student experience?
I envision ASB having a serious, active role in making the right changes this year. It’s our duty, and my dream since freshman year, to make an actual difference in the O’Dowd culture and community. I genuinely want to change things about our school that makes it more fun, more inviting, and more communal. And that starts with utilizing this position I have been blessed with to spread Love and Joy.
How can students get involved with the ASB and contribute to its efforts?
They can get involved by bringing all their ideas and visions to us, big and small. The things that they want matter the most!! Making the school a better place means making the changes the people want and need, and to do that we need to know the concerns of our peers. So anything, big and small, come up to us and let us know! We’re so happy to talk about it and make those changes!! God Bless you and Much Love!

What is your role?
ASB Vice President.
What is one specific issue or goal you want to focus on within the ASB?
One specific goal that I want to focus on within the ASB is creating more school wide spirit opportunities. Whether that is creating a winter formal/spring fling, having a 2nd spirit week, or creating an O’Dowd fair, I want the student body to have more fun things to look forward to outside of academics. The spring semester can be very daunting and our student body deserves to have something they can be excited about as a whole, not just the upperclassman.
What do you want the students of O’Dowd to know about you?
I think something the students of O’Dowd should know about me (besides the spirit, school, and athletic side) is that I love working and volunteering with kids. Whether that be at a summer camp I’ve volunteered at for 4+ years or with my church’s children’s ministry or learning program I created, I really enjoy working with kids, teaching them new things, and helping them gain and navigate life experience. I think that is something many people don’t know.
How do you envision the ASB contributing to the overall school environment and student experience?
I envision the ASB being a place that the student body can look to not only for information about spirit week or who has more spirit points but a place where people can voice their opinions, concerns, and know they are being heard and seen. I hope that ASB will be able to contribute to helping club activities be more known, and helping clubs have the opportunity to do club days to raise awareness or help people learn more about the club. The ASB should be a place that students can look to for support.
How can students get involved with the ASB and contribute to its efforts?
The ASB offers a lot of various efforts like dollar days, candy grams, and gratitude trees where the money raised from those fundraisers are donated to nonprofits, organizations/foundations, and or given back into O’Dowd to make our school experience more enjoyable. Students can help in our efforts by donating, participating, or simply spreading the word about the main goal being achieved. Students can share ideas they think could benefit the school or share information on causes they think the ASB should try to support. By doing these things the student body would be greatly contributing to the efforts the ASB is involved in.

What is your role?
I will serve as the ASB Secretary.
What is one specific issue or goal you want to focus on within the ASB?
Within ASB, I want to focus on increasing student engagement. As an underclassman, I remember feeling disconnected from and even intimidated by ASB, and I know I wasn’t the only one who felt that way. Now that I’m a member, I want to help create clearer and more consistent ways for students to stay informed and get involved. Whether that’s through better use of announcements, social media, or feedback forms, I think making communication more open and accessible can make a meaningful difference in how included people feel.
What do you want the students of O’Dowd to know about you?
I want the students of O’Dowd to know that I genuinely care about supporting the student body and helping create the best school year possible. I’ve been on student council for the past two years and have experience in leadership roles similar to this one, so I’m someone they can trust to listen and follow through on their ideas. I also want the students of O’Dowd to know that they can approach me at any time with any questions, comments, or suggestions regarding the next school year.
How do you envision the ASB contributing to the overall school environment and student experience?
I hope that as a leadership group we create a stronger sense of community, school spirit, and belonging. When ASB is intentional about inclusivity and communication, it helps students feel more connected to both school events and each other. I think ASB should reflect the diversity of the student body and work to make sure everyone feels like they have a place at O’Dowd.
How can students get involved with the ASB and contribute to its efforts?
Students can get involved in a lot of different ways, and it doesn’t have to be anything huge. Attending events, participating in activities, and showing school spirit already makes a difference. Beyond that, students can share feedback or reach out directly to ASB members with ideas or concerns. Even small contributions help shape what ASB does. The more students get involved, the more ASB can truly represent the community and create experiences that people actually enjoy.
James Prater
What is your role?
My role is Special Operations on the Associated Student Body Executive Council.
What is one specific issue or goal you want to focus on within the ASB?
One main issue I would like to focus on within ASB is making sure the student body is happy with the lunches as well as pricing for the lunches provided by the school.
What do you want the students of O’Dowd to know about you?
I want the students at O’Dowd to see me as someone who is approachable and always positive, yet can handle business and work hard when the situation calls for it.
How do you envision the ASB contributing to the overall school environment and student experience?
I envision ASB spreading love and joy to the whole community, whether that is through getting the school energized at a rally or keeping the students up to date on current events. I’d like ASB to be seen as a beacon of love for our community at O’Dowd.
How can students get involved with the ASB and contribute to its efforts?
Students can get involved in all sorts of ways. They can sign up to be class representatives to directly work with us, they can talk to an ASB member directly and volunteer to help us with an ongoing project (there always is one), or they could drop in to the activities office anytime to see what we’re working on.
Marlo Pierre
What is your role?
I am ASB publicist, which means that it is my job to make sure that every event, campaign or activity that ASB is hosting is properly advertised to the greater population. My role also includes managing our social media presence, editing video announcements and this year I especially want to work on the branding of ASB.
What is one specific issue or goal you want to focus on within the ASB?
I want to bridge the gap between the O’Dowd community and the leadership groups. I want to not only uplift other leadership groups like ecoleaders and SIA, but make sure that we are as much of a resource to the O’Dowd public as possible. So for me that looks like shouting out ways that you can get involved; connecting underclassmen with upperclassmen for advice; and coordinating events where the students just get to relax.
What do you want the students of O’Dowd to know about you?
I want to help as much as possible. If there’s anything that you feel that we could relay to the administration or if there’s a way that I can leverage my role to help students…let me know.
How do you envision the ASB contributing to the overall school environment and student experience?
I just hope that we can make the school environment more connected.
How can students get involved with the ASB and contribute to its efforts?
Join the student council or talk to us really. Our role is to be representatives of you guys to the adults on our campus so if you don’t talk to us we can’t get it right. So introduce yourself and tell us what you need; that will make our job easier and give us specific goals that you guys will be interested in.
Layla Waladi is the Treasurer on ASB and an incoming Junior as a part of the class of 2028.
