Promotional art for TikTok and Disney’s collaboration

On the 16th of October, 1923, with the help of his brother, a man created a cartoon studio in Hollywood, California. Five years later, he created the company’s iconic mascot; a black mouse with large circular ears, red shorts, white gloves, and chunky yellow boots. In 1937, the studio created their first movie, and their following films gained lots of success. The creator of the studio even built an amusement park! Have a guess who this man was? That’s right! A century ago, Walt Disney created the Walt Disney Company.

Disney has had an immense impact on American society and pop culture, so TikTok decided to honor the company and designed the Disney100 card game. Beginning on October 16th and lasting 4 weeks, the game allows users (only 18+) to collect and trade 18 cards with different Disney characters to unlock a rare TikTok profile frame.

To start playing, search “Disney100” in the TikTok search bar. There should be a banner at the top of the screen that takes users to the main page. Once on the main page, users can fulfill several tasks to unlock a card. Players can visit the Disney100 cards page, post a video, follow the Disney account, watch a Disney video, share the Disney page, take the daily Disney quiz, and/or open Disney+. Each activity can be done once a day and will reset the next morning at 8 a.m.

Since it’s possible to get the same character repeatedly, it’s difficult to obtain all the characters individually that’s why players can trade cards with their friends! To trade, users must select “Share cards,” select the card they want to exchange, and send the card to their friend (they must follow the person for this to work).

TikTok and Disney certainly know how to draw in their fans; some Disney cards are more difficult to collect than others! So far, Mirabel (Encanto) is the toughest character to obtain, as there’s just a 1% chance. The rarity of cards sparks interest in the card game, and many people are eager to play. Nathan Poekert, a fan of Disney, posted, “I don’t think people are talking enough about how Disney just launched what I consider to be the BEST TikTok branded content campaign yet.” Overall, the game is a great way to commemorate the most prosperous company in pop culture.
