The second day of O’Dowd’s 2023 Spirit Week excursion entailed an exotic trip back in time to the jungly wilderness of the Jurassic. Students came dressed to impress in every aspect of the theme; from safari explorers to camouflaged hunters to dinosaurs themselves, O’Dowd saw a motley of dedicated and marginally frightening ensembles.
As each grade begins tussling to see who will win the most spirit points, day two’s premise brought out the wild side of O’Dowd’s competitors. Looking through the sea of hats and vines, one could easily sense the student body’s pride in both the school and the grade each associates with. While the Jurassic age was a time where every animal fought for themself, here and now, the people of O’Dowd’s jungle come together to fight for their community.
Even without a day rally or adjacent event, student spirit shined through the big smiles and crazy outfits of all present on campus. All across campus was an impression of anticipation and planning for the upcoming night and day rallies, as well as the Olympic games.
Costumes that went above and beyond today celebrated O’Dowd’s spirit of commitment. The highlighted attire includes a full body inflatable dinosaur, grassy leaf monsters, safari jungle explorers, and a dinosaur onesie. Overwhelming participation in the Jurassic theme made today extra special for everyone involved – keep up the good work O’Dowd!
